I'm just playing the chinese open beta. So far I love it, it's a mix of FFXI (or L2) with wow. So it's more of a challenge then wow but not as crazy hard as FFXI or L2.

The one thing that worries me is the ganking. But then again I had my share in Age of Conan, we'll see if that's much different. :D Only level 8 right now.

So is most of the game PVP, or are you just on a PVP server?

There are no different servers announced yet, it's all the same, so no PvE only or PvP servers.
But it's not totally free for all either. Rifts start to appear in level 25 ish zones so you can go to the enemie's side of the world and vice versa. The Abyss where you can go at level 25 (but should wait until later) is where all the heavy PvP happens and contested outposts are, the endgame so to speak.

So after level 20 you'll have to start watching your back. I don't think there will be a PvE server as it goes against how the game is setup. I also hear in the chinese servers there's plenty of ganking going on, so yay. :P

How well do you think Western MMO players will like this game? Is it too hardcore for them?

Is Age of Conan too hardcore? It shouldn't be too much different and there's also heavy penalties for killing people too much under your level.

The game is labeled as PvEvP, so you have to expect to have an equal amount of both, if someone wants a pure PvE game this isn't it.
